When Depression Hasn't Responded,
It Can Be Tough To Keep Going…

Depression Treatment Shouldn't Be
One-Size-Fits-All

SPRAVATO® or Ketamine for Treatment-Resistant Depression

SPRAVATO® is the brand name for esketamine, a prescription nasal medication used to treat treatment-resistant depression in adults.

Unlike traditional antidepressants that primarily target serotonin, norepinephrine, or dopamine pathways, esketamine acts through the brain's NMDA/glutamate system, providing another treatment approach for appropriate patients who haven't received adequate benefit from previous antidepressant treatment.

SPRAVATO isn't taken home. Treatment occurs in a medically supervised setting where you can be monitored before, during, and after treatment.

Ketamine has also been studied as a treatment for difficult-to-treat depression. Its use for depression is off-label, meaning ketamine itself is FDA-approved as an anesthetic but is not FDA-approved specifically to treat depression.

For carefully selected patients, we may discuss ketamine as one of several potential options. We believe these treatments deserve the same careful medical evaluation as any other significant therapy—not a one-size-fits-all protocol or a promise of a miracle cure.
